Gun lobby defends AK47s

4/12/2005

A gun lobby group say there is nothing wrong with inspecting an AK 47 rifle.

ACT leader Rodney Hide has been photographed, brandishing the weapon at a gun fair in Auckland.

The automatic rifle is capable of firing 10 rounds a second.

Gun Lobby New Zealand spokesman, John Dyer, says the implication that Rodney Hide is not entitled to inspect the weapon is nonsense.

He says anyone who is carefully supervised can inspect these firearms, but they cannot take them out to a range and shoot with them.
